Welcome

Why BBVX?

This site is dedicated to empowering the volunteers and taking the organization "one step beyond." There's a lot going on that the staff simply can't keep up with. This site is intended to grow as a repository for information, a host for mailing lists and other communication tools that will help keep us all in the loop. Volunteers to help maintain sections of the site are welcome.

A relatively new feature supported by BBVX is an RSS feed for the "what's new" section of www.aauw.org. The address of the feed is: http://www.bbvx.org/rss/whatsnewaauw.xml. For information on using the feed, see the training video on Using Google Pesonalized Home Page to read AAUW news at wiki.bbvx.org.

Feel free to contact nes@bbvx.org with suggestions or comments.

Mailing lists

If volunteers are going to accomplish much, they need to be able to communicate with each other. While branches may do this fine face to face, for statewide or national efforts, this often means using mailing lists. There are already a number of mailing lists for communication among members on various topics. Many are, of course, hosted at the Association's web site, but I don't know of any master list for them. Most are set up by subscribing those in particular offices (state presidents, state membership vp's, etc.) but there are a couple that are open to all members: Adelante! and Webmgrs, for instance. We'll try to get a link to a current list of the Association's e-mail lists and post it here.

BBVX.org will offer mailman lists if you have a need to connect members on a given topic, agree to the general usage policies (especially that you ensure that the folks you subscribe really do want to subscribe!), and have someone who can navigate the mailman administrative screens.
